THEMES

25

VIDEOS

5

LANGUAGES

The objective of this project is to develop digital and multilingual awareness tools adapted to different Mauritanian communities. To achieve this goal, our plan is to produce five educational videos dealing with female genital mutilation (FGM) and force-feeding (modern and traditional). These videos will be carefully translated in the 5 languages spoken by our beneficiaries: French, Pulaar, Wolof, Hassanya and Soninké.

We also plan to organize 12 viewing sessions, one for each village with which we have established prior partnerships. These villages were selected because of our previous collaboration and strong links with local authorities and members of civil society. Following the viewings, discussion workshops will be set up to encourage a constructive exchange on the content of the videos with the local population, while addressing the various issues linked to female genital mutilation and force-feeding.

This project aims to support and encourage local initiatives aimed at reducing violence against women and young girls in Mauritania. By using digital tools accessible to all, we wanted to raise awareness among a larger number of people and promote positive change within Mauritanian society. By strengthening women's rights and fighting gender-based violence, we aspire to create a safer and more equitable environment for all Mauritanian girls and women.

A picture is worth a thousand words

As this project is still in progress, the videos will be available by the end of February 2024.
